Upper House[]
After passing a test - by killing a minion-class Mantis Demon raised by the Swords Gate - to prove that they have reached the Soul Liberation stage, Outer House Disciples can claim 10 Yuling Pellets every month from the Valley of Remedy within the Upper House.[2]
The Upper House was divided into two, the men’s and women’s houses. The purpose of the separation was to avoid improper relationships between the disciples from daily communications. After all, the outer disciples of the upper house were the focal point of the outer hall. If their morale turned bad, it would affect their cultivation speeds.
Every disciple that manages to get into the upper house will be reported to the Qi Practitioners of the Swords Gate. Then the Qi Practitioners will come down themselves and select their ideal disciples to teach them techniques and guide them in cultivation. Usually, every Qi Practitioner will have ten to twenty upper house disciples at once, because if one of their disciples become a Qi Practitioners, they will share the honor as well.

A mountainous and floral place southeast of Swords Gate. Medicinal materials in the wild can be found here as well as cliffs.
Structure Layout[]
Outer Hall[]
The status of outer disciples was extremely low; they could only learn the most primitive and superficial techniques of Swords Gate. Only when they had succeeded in manifesting their spirit (Spirit Nurturing Qi Practitioner) could they become a nominal disciple of the inner hall. After that, they could become an apprentice under the head of the inner hall, and they would be able to practice the true techniques of Swords Gate. However, it was not hard to imagine how hard it would be for an outer disciple from a weak tribe to be promoted to a nominal inner disciple.[8]
Cultivation in the lower house was boring and dull, but it was more interesting in the upper house.[9][10]
Lower House[]
These outer disciples live in one room with an attached well.[8] Poor family/peasant disciples can only gather and make their own medicinal pills from scratch.[9]
Valley of Remedy, Lower House[]
Outer hall lower house disciples can obtain general medicinal pills and even learn to refine their own for the Mortal Level, such as the Yuling Pill which nourishes the soul and body.[11]
Knowledge Teaching Pavilion, Lower House[]
Outer hall lower house disciples can learn low grade and introductory techniques of cultivation fit for those lower than Soul Manipulation Mortals. A commonly known, but unpopular, technique is the Jiao Dragon Winding Body Totem Art.[12][13]
Cloudless Hall[]
In the Cloudless Hall, there were no skies, lands, or any objects of the five elements. Otherwise, the soul might scatter and disperse if it came into contact with any one of the five elements due to the commonly spread low quality Sword Gate Visualization Art's extreme side-effects. The Cloudless Hall is overseen by assigned Spirit Nurturing Qi Practitioners.[14][11]
Below visitors upon entering the Cloudless Hall was an invisible barrier, and underneath the barrier was a view from a lofty altitude. Magnificent mountains and hills stood like stationary sea waves, and nearly the entirety of the hundred thousand miles of Great Wilderness could be seen clearly! Waves of white clouds curled and floated with the wind beneath them. When the two looked around, they could see all sorts of unique sights within the Great Wilderness. There was a frosted ice mountain covered in snow, giant trees that shadowed a thousand miles with their canopy, and a huge lotus that grew exceptionally big. These were all breath-taking scenes. Above them, the hot sun dangled high and the moon hung to the side. The sun, moon, and stars were all so close to him now; much nearer than they used to be.[15]
In Cloudless Hall, there were already more than ten people gathered in front of a high stage. The stage had a radius of a thousand feet, and in the middle stood a little Swords Gate that was shaped like a sword. The high stage was enclosed by invisible seals, completely shutting it off. The Cloudless Hall holds monthly Soul Liberty examinations at the high stage to allow Swords Gate outer disciples of the lower house to enter the upper house. The purpose of the examination of Cloudless Hall was to test the candidate’s liberation of soul and combat consciousness, both of these elements were equally indispensable![15] Once passed, the outer disciple is issued a token of the upper house which he or she must refine with their soul and psyche to code it for their courtyard usage in the upper house, thereby, restricting others from using the token.[9]

Upper House[]
The upper house was divided into two, the men’s and women’s houses. The purpose of the separation was to avoid improper relationships between the disciples from daily communications. After all, the outer disciples of the upper house were the focal point of the outer hall. If their morale turned bad, it would affect their cultivation speeds.[18] Male disciples are forbidden from entering the female's, but women can visit men's.[19]
Women's House: Flowers lined the roadside, the mountains were green and skies were blue and in between them the turquoise clear water, the lake, and the skies met on at the horizon while at the middle of the lake were small skiffs floating on the water. There were also cormorants diving in and out of the water and gaudy mandarin ducks frolicking around the lake,
Every disciple that manages to get into the upper house will be reported to the Qi Practitioners of the Swords Gate. Then the Qi Practitioners will come down themselves and select their ideal disciples to teach them techniques and guide them in cultivation. Usually, every Qi Practitioner will have ten to twenty upper house disciples at once, because if one of their disciples become a Qi Practitioners, they will share the honor as well.[9]
Valley of Remedy, Upper House[]
For all upper house disciples, they can voluntarily monthly claim a distribution of 10 Yuling Pills. For newly entered upper house disciples, 10 Yuling Pills are automatically given after passing the Soul Liberty examination.[9] An upper house disciple can get 1 Yuling Pill after killing a 100 monsters, and 100 Pills by killing one mutant monster, of the Demon Ruins[20] of Swords Gate.[21]
Knowledge Teaching Pavilion, Upper House[]
The Qi Practitioners of Swords Gate would, from time to time, come to the upper house's Knowledge Teaching Pavilion's training room and pass down their techniques to the upper house disciples .[9][22]
Courtyards[]
An initial upper house disciple is usually guided by the house manager of the upper house to his or her courtyard for the first time. A courtyard is divided into three parts: back, center and front. The back part of the courtyard is the place where the disciple can rest, the center is the hall for meetings and it comes with a training room that is meant for cultivation, and lastly, the front part is the place where the servants stay. Each disciple possesses an upper house token that can be placed into a certain slot near the courtyard door to establish a totem god pillar-empowered barrier to prevent observation and theft from any outsiders to a certain cultivation level.[9]
Yin Ma Tai (Horse Drinking Platform)[]
A cliff in Swords Gate. In front of the cliff was a lake where there was often some beast that came for water. It felt like the cliff was formed as a result of a mountain that was cut off by a colossus with a giant axe. Below was the gorge, approximately thousands of feet deep and one could see the clouds drifting in the air on the cliff.[19]
